Kaneria eyes winning role

KARACHI, Jan 1: Pakistan’s champion leg spinner Danish Kaneria on Sunday looked to play a leading role in the coming Tests and One-day International series against India which he termed is a new and stronger challenge for him. “The series will be tough for me in several ways, like different balls to be used in the series and tough weather conditions in which the Tests would be played,” Kaneria said.

“But the bottom-line is that it will be a new series and we as a team will not try to live in the past glories and would try to extend our success run,” said Kaneria, who sparkled in Pakistan’s recent victory against England.

The 25-year-old, who took 19 wickets against India last year, said the Tests would be played in the chilly Punjab weather that would make it difficult for spinners to bowl but added playing against arch rivals have always been a motivation which tends him to give more than hundred percent.—Agencies
