Ghous rejects Kalabagh project

KHAIRPUR, Jan 1: Former Sindh Chief Minister and PML-N leader Syed Ghous Ali Shah has said that construction of Kalabagh dam is not important than integrity of the country. He expressed these views during a telephonic address from London to people here on occasion of his 72nd birthday at Ghous Manzil on Sunday.

He said that he had opposed the Kalabagh dam project during his tenure as the chief minister and also in 1997 when the issue was raised.

He said that majority of people of Pakistan were against construction of controversial dam which was in fact a dead issue.

He said that 2006 would be the year of restoration of democracy in the country.—Correspondent
