RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Government has placed adequate force at the disposal of the Baluchistan Provincial Government at its express request to check the marauding activities of Bugti and Marri tribesmen... . An official spokesman said armed bands of Bugti tribesmen, reported to be moving towards Quetta, in order to disrupt law and order, are also being intercepted and stopped. Some lawlessness is reported from Quetta also by some Bugti tribesmen in a bid to intimidate and harass the Provincial Government.

The spokesman said the Central Government has ordered the deployment of elements of the Frontier Corps. Incidents of lawlessness and violence by some Marri tribesmen were also reported from the Pat Feeder area. According to the spokesman, trouble started in the Pat Feeder area when armed Marri tribesmen attacked the settlers’ villages, inflicted casualties on the inhabitants, took away their cattle, and forcibly evicted them from their dwellings.

Meanwhile, according to a report from Quetta, all the educational institutions, including the Baluchistan University, have been closed from today [Dec 2] on the order of the Provincial Government. With the immediate closure, the annual school examinations … had also to be postponed for an indefinite period. — News agencies
