KARACHI: The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) was on Tuesday handed over a mobile food testing laboratory by the European Union to help support the implementation of food safety standards and overall quality assurance of food items being supplied to markets.
EU Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Riina Kionka handed over keys of the mobile laboratory to the SFA in a ceremony held at the excise and taxation office.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sindh Food Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that the mobile food testing lab would definitely help the authority to perform its functions more effectively.
The mobile food testing laboratory was the part of the Growth for Rural Advancement and Sustainable Progress (GRASP) project, funded by the EU, and implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC).
Dr Kionka said that the EU was glad to be one of the main donors working to improve the food quality in Sindh.
