QUETTA: The Counter Terrorism Department of police killed a suspected terrorist and injured another during an intelligence-based operation in the Sariab Road area here on Monday.

A spokesman for the CTD said police conducted a search operation on information about the presence of some armed men belonging to a banned organisation near the Burma Hotel. An exchange of fire took place between the security personnel and armed militants.

“During the gun battle, an alleged member of banned Baloch Liberation Army was killed and another injured,” CTD officials said, adding that the man killed was identified as Nizamuddin Kurd. Arsalan Shah, the injured militant, was arrested.

The CTD spokesman said 117 hand grenades, two pistols and a large number of rounds were recovered from the militants’ vehicle.
