Efforts on to bring back ‘cop killer’ from Sweden

KARACHI: While efforts are under way to bring back home from Sweden a man who killed a policeman, police picked up his brother-in-law and driver in connection with the murder of 34-year-old police constable Abdul Rehman.

Suspect Khurram Nisar, who has been booked for the murder, managed to escape to Sweden through a Turkish airline flight early on Tuesday morning by using his Swedish passport.

South-SSP Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that the police had arrested suspect’s brother-in-law Amir Qadeer and driver Aurangzeb for their alleged involvement in helping Nisar to flee.

He added that both the detained persons had ‘conspired’ to help the suspect go abroad and they knew that he was involved in the murder of a policeman.

He said when the police traced the suspect’s home in DHA, the family driver, Aurangzeb was there. He had removed registration number plate of the car used in the murder and covered it. Besides, the driver was also not giving car keys to investigators.

Meanwhile, a police spokesperson in a statement said that the process of bringing back the suspect from Sweden had been initiated.

“An investigation team has been formed for probing the killing of the policeman in Clifton,” it said.

A four-member team led by SSP Raza has been established and it would approach the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Interpol and the Swedish embassy for the arrest of the suspect.

Please do so as nobody is above the law. they portray as the flag carriers of civilized community, yet the culprit ran away from the scene. apply all means to bring him back to Pakistan and let him serve the relevant punishment.

Everything is "would approach" when it comes to Sindh Police. Sweden will never deport their own citizen to be hanged in another country. Their laws don't allow it. That guy is safe there.

The Swedish authorities will never handover the accused to Pakistan. The infamous Police of Sindh is well known to international community for being trigger happy. And there are many incidents where police killed innocent people. The number of extrajudicial killings in Pakistan are rampant. Pakistan Police had to prove before Swedish Authority many circumstantial evidences , etc, to convince extradition.

Maybe the Swedish givernment will be open for punishing the dude in Sweden, there was a similar case in Norway, where the criminals were sentenced there, for their murder in Pakistan

Investigation team for what? There is a clear CCTV footage of the murder incident. How could he leave the country without the consent of the authorities? Who was supposed to inform the airports. And if airports were notified of restrictions on him to fly out, how did he go out? Who is responsible for his escape needs to be investigated rather than who was involved in the murder. I'm sure airport guys knew that this was the guy from Sweden who murdered a police man.

@Jamil Ahmed, Absolutely. Let the investigation team complete its findings. The investigative team must broadly look why there are so much crimes continuing on 26th Street and vicinities of Tomb there. The number of drug addicts are seen there, and drugs easily available there, by the mercy of none but area police. Rule of Law must prevail under all circumstances. There’s a need for extradition treat with all countries, such that criminals be brought back for trials.

Sindh police is one of the corrupt department of Zardari regime, they are only there to protect and give protocol to Zardari and his cronies at the expense of tax payers, numerous murders has been done not only in interior Sind but also in Karachi and somehow they got away with the blessing of Zardari and I don't expect any worthwhile from Sind police and it is a straight forward case by asking Sweden to hand over the person so justice can be done or if there is any technicalities do in Sweden

The story revealed by SSP indicate that the whole story revolved around BHATTA Collection by POLICE. The brave man knew that once he went to Police station, he would be deprived of his wealth, dignity and life. He was right to shoot the criminal police man.

The guy is probably already a refugee in Sweden. There is no immigration to Sweden so this guy in Sweden is already a cheater. He should be charged in Pakistan and the Swedes would be happy to get rid of another refugee who is a burden on the system there since most Somali, Afghan, Arab and other refugees don't work in Europe.
