DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A tribal elder from South Waziristan who was injured in a car attack on Wednesday succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.

Unknown armed attackers had opened fire on a car near New Sabzi Mandi in the limits of Saddar police station on Paharpur Canal Road, DI Khan. As a result, two elders of Machhikhel clan of Mehsud tribe, namely Dost Mohammad, 45, and Izzat Khan, 38, were killed.

Another elder, Noor Mohammad, 69, who was injured in the attack, died in a hospital in Multan.

According to the police, the tribal elders were returning home after participating in a jirga to resolve a dispute regarding the construction site of a small dam in Tank district when they came under attack.

The police have registered a case against unknown attackers.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of Dost Mohammad and Izzat Khan were offered in Tank district. Later, they were buried in their ancestral villages.
