AN inter-Dominion Minority Board to protect the interests and rights of the minorities of India and Pakistan inasmuch as they are claimed to be identical was formed on Saturday [Nov 15] in Karachi with Prof N.R. Malkani, a prominent Congress MLA, as chairman and Sayed Faizul Hussain (Central Provinces) as the Secretary. The headquarters of the board will be Karachi.

The board at present consists of nine other members representing minorities in various provinces in both Dominions. The board resolved that political parties in one Dominion should be disaffiliated from their counterparts in the other Dominion. In pursuance of this principle, the Congress and the Muslim League parties of one Dominion should have no official connection with their counterparts in the other Dominion. It was decided that the political parties should be formed on the basis of economic and social programmes so as to achieve economic and social democracy in their respective Dominions and to work for secular and non-communal aims and objects. [Among the resolutions passed was that] To mitigate the hardships and miseries of refugees the two Governments should afford them every possible relief and permanently settle those who have no desire to return to their original homes.
