ISLAMABAD: A local court of Islamabad on Saturday distributed the copies of challan among Shahbaz Gill and Ammad Yousaf — Director News of private TV channel — and decided to indict them on Nov 22 in a case related to inciting mutiny among the armed forces.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Tahir Abbas Sipra resumed proceedings in the case registered against Gill, Ammad Yousaf and others. The court marked their attendance.

The special prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi argued that the investigation agency could not find tangible evidence against the accused other than Gill and Yousaf.

The investigation officer told the court that the challan to the extent of both the accused has been completed. Advocate Ali Bukhari, counsel for Gill argued that the prosecution invoked colonial era’s sections against Gill. The counsel for Yousaf sought permanent exemption of his personal appearance.

The prosecutor told the court that he would not object to a plea seeking exemption for Yousaf only after framing of charges. The court adjourned further proceeding in this matter till Nov 22.

Gill and others were booked in the FIR over former’s controversial remarks in a television programme.
