GILGIT: Three persons died whereas four were injured when a passenger jeep plunged into a deep ravine in Goharabad of Diamer on Friday.

The condition of one of the injured persons is said to be critical.

According to police, the jeep was on its way to Bargeen village.

A child was among the deceased persons. Local volunteers and Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the injured to a regional hospital in Chilas and retrieved the bodies.

The names of the victims could not be ascertained and the reason behind the accident is still not known.

According to a statement, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid expressed sorrow over the incident.

He directed officials to take emergency measures to provide better medical facilities to the injured.
