KARACHI: A man was shot at and wounded by armed robbers when he put up resistance to their attempt to snatch Rs300,000 from him in a Malir area on Tuesday, police said.

They said 65-year-old Mohammed Mushtaq was wounded by robbers near Shamsi Society, Malir.

Al-Falah SHO Badar Shakeel said that armed pillion riders snatched around Rs300,000 cash from the victim near Wireless Gate. As he put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him and fled along with snatched cash. He suffered bullet injuries and was transported to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

The officer said that the injured citizen was carrying the cash to purchase some goods for home. In another incident, a woman was shot and injured by robbers off Northern Bypass.

The Gulshan-i-Maymar police said that Zareena Muneer, 55, was shot and hurt during robbery resistance near Ahmed Brohi Goth. The injured woman was shifted to the JPMC for treatment.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man was shot dead in Liaquatabad-4 on Monday, police said on Tuesday.
