HYDERABAD: Turkia’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s subsidiary agency TIKA in collaboration with Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) would provide free wheat seed to small farmers with one to 10 acres of land in eight flood-affected districts of Sindh.
TIKA’s Karachi-based programme coordinator Halil Ibrahim Basaran in his meeting with VC Dr Fateh Murri discussed different matters of mutual interest regarding agriculture, export, culture and history of the two countries. The meeting noted that certified wheat seed for two acres would be provided free of cost to 600 farmers of Dadu, Khairpur, Sanghar, Nawabshah, Badin, Matiari, Umerkot, and Mirpurkhas. The agriculture department would coordinate for identification of the areas.
According to a press release issued by SAU on Sunday, regional representatives of TIKA visited SAU and met its vice chancellor.
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) would provide free wheat seed to small farmers in collaboration with the SAU and Sindh agriculture extension department.
The VC said the SAU would carry out work of better seed and its transparent distribution under supervision of experts.
Dean of the crop production faculty Dr Inayatullah Rajpar, director university advancement and financial assistance Dr Mohammad Ismail Kumbhar, in-charge Seed development and production cell Dr Zahoor Soomro, Dr Aijaz Soomro, Dr Tahmina Nagraj, Dr Mohammad Rafique Raho, Dr Islamuddin Rajput of Sindh agriculture department and Miss Fatima, representative of TIKA, were present at the meeting.
