HYDERABAD, Dec 28: Wasa has notified that there is shortage of water in areas of Latifabad, Qasimabad and City talukas on account of annual closure of Kotri Barrage canals by irrigation authorities from Dec 26 to Jan 10.

The Wasa managing director on Wednesday said that the agency was supplying drinking water to people from its storage tanks which had storage capacity for 10 days. He requested people to avoid wastage of water.

He further said that there was power breakdown on Dec 28 at PD-I sewage disposal and Preetabad water works from 9:25am to 3pm which had caused sewage disposal problem and drinking water shortage in Preetabad, Gulshan-i-Khair Mohammad and adjoining areas.

BOARD: Sindh agriculture secretary Nazar Hussain Mahar has said that an independent chilli development board will be set up in the province.

According to a spokesman for the directorate of agriculture information, the secretary was speaking at a recently-held seminar on chilli crop at the Kunri union council hall.
