Musharraf to visit Norway next month

Published December 28, 2005

OSLO, Dec 27: President Pervez Musharraf is scheduled to visit Norway from Jan 23 to 25, according to a newspaper report. President Musharraf will have talks with Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, and will be received in audience by King Harald at the Royal Palace.

The dates have not yet been announced officially, and the Pakistan Embassy has declined to comment on the visit, according to NRK.

The newspaper VG writes that the visit will require some of the strictest security measures ever mounted in Norway, with the possible exception of Bill Clinton’s visit in November 1999.

Representatives of the Pakistani security service will arrive in Oslo shortly to discuss the visit with the Norwegian police.—Online
