LOWER WAZIRISTAN: The police arrested 19 people in Shakai area of Lower Waziristan on Wednesday who refused to vaccinate their children against polio.

Officials said that the action was taken on the directives of the deputy commissioner. He said that 19 people had been detained who did not allow the health workers to administer polio drops to the children.

According to reports, the local people had protested against the non-provision of 3G and 4G services in Shakai area. They had announced boycott of the polio vaccination.

The police took action against the protesters and arrested 19 of them from Shakai Bazaar.
