DERA GHAZI KHAN: Financial compensation/assistance to flood-affected people will be paid soon through the Punjab bank without opening of accounts, official sources told Dawn.

After accomplishment of survey regarding the assessment of flood damages, payment of financial assistance to affected people of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur districts would commence by the end of the current month.

Dera Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha told Dawn the survey had almost been completed and payment of financial assistance would start before the end current month.

He said the Punjab bank would pay the financial assistance to the registered people through SMS and there was no need of opening bank accounts.

He said the bank would open 25 temporary branches in flood-affected areas to facilitate the people.

He said Rs 400,000 for every damaged brick house and Rs 200,000 for each mud house would be paid.

As per survey, at least 60,000 houses had been damaged by flood and Rs 20 billion would be required for the purpose.

TEA HOUSE: Pak tea house will be established in Dera Ghazi Khan within the premises of the Dera Ghazi Khan Arts Council to provide a platform to the literati.

Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha told Dawn the tea house would be functional in November.
