ISLAMABAD: Former wife of Ayaz Amir was arrested after his pre-arrest bail application in Sarah Inam murder case was dismissed by the additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ).

Samina Shah has been cited as an accused in the murder of Sarah Inam along with her son Shahnawaz Amir, the principal accused.

Ayaz Amir was also nominated as accused in the case, however, the court discharged him from the murder case after initial proceeding.

ADSJ Sheikh Sohail resumed hearing on the pre-arrest bail of Ms Shah.

Inamur Rahim, father of Sarah Inam, appeared before the court along with his counsel Rao Abdul Rahim.

Ms Shah’s counsel Arsal Amjad Hashmi argued that she cooperated with police and enabled arrest of principal accused and her only mistake was that she was present at the crime scene.

According to the counsel, the only evidence against Ms Shah was her fingerprints which the police procured during the investigation.

Advocate Rao on the other hand argued that the postmortem of the deceased had disclosed that Ms Sarah murder was reported to the police about 12-24 hours after the incident.

Referring to the statement of Ms Shah, the counsel said that Sarah met her on the ill-fated night and most probably the deceased wanted to tell her about her agony.

He also questioned the shutting down of CCTV system two days before the incident.

Opposing her bail plea, advocate Rao said thorough investigation would establish her role in the murder.

The judge inquired from the counsel of Ms Shah the reason as to why the deceased contacted her, the lawyer replied that this had nothing to do with the crime since Shahnawaz was an independent man and he was acting upon his own will.

After hearing the arguments, the judge dismissed the pre arrest bail of Ms Shah and the police took her into custody.
