FAISALABAD, Jan 29: All the political parties have set up their informal cells and committees for interviewing and recommending interested candidates for the general elections scheduled to be held in October this year, it is learnt.

Local leaders are making efforts to bring educated and experienced politicians in their parties so that lists could be sent to heads of the parties for approval.

Leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (QA) have been arranging meetings in all the main cities.

It is expected the JI and PML will make an alliance in future as they have launched a joint struggle against the current regime.

Political pundits say the Awami Tehrik, Millat Party, and the Tehrik-i-Insaf are silent and awaiting some breakthrough from the government. All these three parties are not in a position to contest elections under their own umbrella and they are have no chance to join parties like PML-QA before the announcement of proper schedule of the elections.

Punjab PPP Secretary-General Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan and divisional Coordinator Raja Riaz Ahmad have been playing the role of ‘managers’, searching for suitable candidates for all 11 national assembly and 22 provincial assembly seats of the Faisalabad district.

Former PML-N MPAs, Muhammad Afzal Khan and Rana Sanaullah Khan, have been endeavouring to unite their local leaders and party sympathizers for announcing a joint election strategy and nominating fit candidates.

The leadership of PML (QA), backed by government agencies, has become active after the joining of a good number of PML-N leaders and active workers from Faisalabad.
