ABBOTTABAD/MOHMAND: New voter lists have been displayed in Abbottabad and Mohmand districts so that the citizens can register their votes, make corrections and lodge complaints without any problem.

Abbottabad district election officer Zeeshan Khan said new voter lists had been put on display at the display centres, where 14 assistant registration officers would facilitate the citizens in making corrections, if any, to the lists.

He said the local election commission office had already arranged seminars in educational institutions to ensure preparation of error-free electoral rolls.

He said the new voter lists were compiled through door-to-door verification conducted last year by the election commission. He said voters could also check their votes and addresses in the new lists by sending their CNIC number to 8300.

Meanwhile, Mohmand district election commissioner Umar Khan said the commission has published the electoral rolls.

Talking to journalists in Ghalanai on Tuesday, he said a total of nine display centres had been set up, including one at the local election commission, to facilitate tribesmen in verifying their votes.

Mr Khan said the remaining display centres had been established in all the tehsils.

The district election commissioner said these centres had been established for the convenience of people so they could check their and their family members’ votes in the lists.

Umar Khan said voter education and revival of citizens’ faith in the electoral process was a must for a strong democracy.
