LAHORE: A sessions court on Friday acquitted four accused in the murder case of journalist Hasnain Shah after the complainant and the witnesses resiled from their statements.

Shah’s widow Mehwish, who was the complainant in the first information report (FIR), stated before the court that the accused prosecuted by the police had no role in the case. The witnesses also expressed their inability to identify the accused.

In light of the statements of the complainant and the witnesses, Additional District & Sessions Judge Yasin Sohal acquitted the accused, including Amir Raza Butt, Amjad Pasha, Syed Haider Abbas Shah and Syed Farhan Ahmad Shah.

Hasnain Shah was shot dead by unidentified men near the Lahore Press Club on Jan 24, 2022.
