KARACHI: Two more show cause notices were issued yesterday [Oct 4] to two Lahore dailies, ‘Pakistan Times’ and ‘Imroze’, by a Division Bench of Sind and Baluchistan High Court, for contempt of Court, in reporting Tuesday’s [Oct 3] proceedings of Mr Altaf Gauhar’s case. Mr Mohammad Ali Gauhar, today drew the attention of the Bench, consisting of Mr Justice Tufailally A Rehman and Mr Justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim that ‘Pakistan Times’ and ‘Imroze’ of Lahore carried the same story as was published by two newspapers of Karachi and circulated by [an agency]. He requested for action against them for contempt of court. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by the newspaper’s chief overseas correspondent in London,] Early talks on important constitutional issues between President Z.A. Bhutto and leading Opposition politicians were proposed today [Oct 5] by Khan Abdul Wali Khan, leader of National Awami Party, in order to avoid ... confrontation in the Pakistan Constituent Assembly next month.

Asked ... to comment on the statement by ex-Law Minister Mahmud Ali Kasuri that Pakistan’s proposed constitution will be federal and parliamentary Khan Abdul Wali Khan said: “I welcome this statement. It is my conviction that we can resolve all outstanding problems if we discuss them in brotherly spirit”.
