Ahsan’s spell fires CCA

KARACHI, Dec 23: Customs Cricket Academy (CCA) began their campaign in the Dolphin Cup under-14 tournament on Friday in Sharjah with a resounding ten-wicket victory over Delhi’s Ryan International (B) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The Delhi-based team won the toss and elected to bat first but were bundled out for a paltry 71. Opener Jerimiah was the only batsman to reach double figures. He made a defiant 40.

Medium pacer Ahsan Khan was the pick of CCA bowlers. He scalped five batsmen in his five overs spell for 10 runs and was rightly named Man-of-the-Match.

Ahsan received splendid support from his newball partner Arsalan who picked up three wickets for 12 runs in 4.4 overs.

CCA openers Ramiz Aziz (32) and Asad Baig (26) made the target look easy and needed just 6.5 overs.

The Karachi-based team will now face hosts Sharjah Cricket Coucil in their second match on Sunday at the same venue.

Summarized scores:

Ryan International B 71 in 24.4 overs (Jeremiah 40; Ashan Khan 5-15; Arsalan 3-12)

CCA 72 for no loss in 6.5 overs (Ramiz Aziz 32 not out, Mirza Asad Baig 26 not out).
