ISLAMABAD: As many as 93 more dengue cases were reported in federal capital during the last 24 hours.

The cumulative number of dengue patients for the current season has reached 2,679 and so far six deaths have been reported.

According to District Health Officer Dr Zaeem Zia, 47 cases were reported in the rural areas and 46 cases from urban area of the federal capital.

Otherwise, the disease may turn into a life-threatening haemorrhagic fever, which in turn may lead to bleeding and dangerously low blood pressure.

Rapid and unplanned urbanisation, lack of sanitation and climate change are all contributing to a surge in dengue infections.
