ISLAMABAD: Islamabad will lock horns with Lahore in the National Women’s Basketball Championship opener here at the Pakistan Sports complex on Monday.

According to the general secretary of the Federal Basketball Association — which is organising the tournament under the umbrella of the Pakistan Basketball Federation — Ouj-e-Zahoor, the five-day tournament will feature eight teams, which have been divided in two pools, with the top two sides to make the semi-finals.

Pool ‘A’ features defending champions Wapda, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Quetta, while Army, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar have been placed in Pool ‘B’.

Four matches will be contested on each day of the tournament.

The opening day will also see Wapda take on Quetta, Army clash with Peshawar. Karachi play Rawalpindi. The semi-finals and the final will be played on October 6 and 7 respectively.
