QUETTA: Four suspected terrorists of a banned outfit were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Nasirabad area, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Balochistan police claimed on Sunday.

The operation was conducted on a tip off about the presence of Ghulam Nabi alias Ghulami, Baloch Republican Guards commander, and his three accomplices, a CTD spokesperson said in a statement.

As the police personnel cordoned off the under-construction building where the militants were hiding, they opened indiscriminate fire, leaving one official wounded. During the heavy exchange of fire, which continued for one and half hour, four terrorists were killed while another managed to escape under the cover of darkness, the officials said.

The statement added that arms and ammunition, including one SMG, two 9mm pistols, three hand grenades, 8kg explosives, detonating cord, 2kg nut bolts, one remote control, three detonators, batteries and two motorcycles were also recovered from their hideout.

The CTD official was rushed to Dera Murad Jamali district hospital, where he was admitted. The bodies were later also shifted to the hospital.

According to the official statement, the alleged BRG terrorists were involved in multiple attacks and kidnapping for extortion in Nasirabad and surrounding areas.
