11 held after encounter with police

PESHAWAR, Dec 23: Peshawar police have arrested 11 alleged terrorists on charges of attacking government installations in the Matani area in the outskirts of the city, officials said. The group had an encounter with the Matani police on the main Peshawar-Kohat Road on Thursday noon during which two policemen and two alleged terrorists were injured.

The police cordoned off the area and arrested the 11 persons.

They have been identified as Juma Khan; Riaz, son of Karim; Mohammad Siddique, son of Shehzada; Mohammad Ayub, son of Bahadar; Jan Akbar, son of Mohammad Hasan; Ehsan, son of Akhtar Baz; Waheed, son of Imran; Sahibzada, son of Gul Bahadar; Anjum, son of Said Badshah; Alamzeb, son of Noor Hakeem, all residents of Melot Sheen Darang village of Matani and Said Anwar, son of Haji Zaman, a resident of Spin Kamar village of Matani.
