MOHMAND: A jirga of various tribes of Mohmand district on Saturday demanded immediate arrest of the killers of two brothers of Safi tehsil.

The jirga held at the residence of Malik Subedar Safi also demanded the arrest of the killers of a child in Dawezai area.

The participants agreed that all disputes in the area would be resolved through jirgas.

The jirga was attended by Malik Nader Manan, Malik Subedar Safi, Malik Sahib Dad, Malik Nusrat Tarakzai, Malik Younis, Malik Iqar Khan, Malik Haji Ahmad Khewaizai, Malik Inamul Haq, Malik Khan Zaib, Malik Aurangzeb, Malik Izzat Khan and Malik Abdul Karim.

They vowed to fail the designs of those wanting to create unrest in the area.

The elders said tribal people had rendered countless sacrifices during militancy for restoration of peace in the area.

They said that they would not allow anyone to disturb the peaceful environment in the district.

The jirga also assured that the elders would work side by side with the security forces and the district administration in their efforts to establish durable peace in the area.

The participants of the jirga pledged that they would always extend assistance to law enforcement agencies against anti-social elements.
