ISLAMABAD: Lahore Garrison Golf Club were dominant on the first day of the national Inter Club Golf Championship here at the Islamabad Golf course on Friday.

The club accumulated a gross team score of 475 to top the charts while Islamabad Golf Club following with 478. Karachi Golf Club were third with 512 and Peshawar Golf Club stood at fourth with 525.

The Lahore Garrison amateurs proved to be most useful for their team with steady individual scores. Nouman Ilyas had finished the first day with gross 75 ,while young Damil Ataullah registered a gross 77. Captain Zain chipped in with gross score of 79.

Senior amateur category player Tariq Mehmood was the most impressive with a gross 75 and was backed by modest efforts by Ikram-ul-Haq and Raja Asif Mehdi.

For Islamabad Golf Club, Shumayl Aziz, Fawad Trimzi and Hamza Sheikh were the top performaers in the amateur category. In the senior amateur category, Tariq Akbar, Ibrar Khan and Taimur Hassan Amin — who registered a gross score of 76 — were the difference makers.
