KOHAT: The traders and other people here have urged the deputy commissioner to take notice of the negligence of the tehsil municipal administration (TMA) in clearing the garbage dumps lying for weeks in the city’s old bus stand.

They said that labourers and passengers also take advantageof the dump and peethere withoutanyfear.

The president of old bus stand traders, Mohammad Saleem, and chairman of business alliance Haji Abid said that the bus stand fell in the jurisdiction of the TMA under an agreement reached with the Water Supply and Sanitation Company (WSSC) eight years ago.

They urged the DC to visit the site and order the TMA to clean the place daily.

WATER PROJECT: Controversy by Pirkhel and cantonment claimants of Bona Baba springs has jeopardised the Rs550 million project for taking a supply pipeline from them to the water scarce KDA Township.

WSSC deputy general manager Tahir Afif told this scribe that funds for the project had been approved, but the cantonment authorities stopped them from proceeding with it.

He said the natural springs in the mountain belonged to nobody.

Pirkhel vice-chairman of the local body, Pir Kamran, said in a statement the other day that the springs were the property of their forefathers. He said the whole tribe was united against the WSSC project for laying pipeline and constructing overhead tanks.

He said the scheme would harm the irrigation of their fields from the springs.
