OKARA: A young man who had allegedly gone missing a day earlier (Monday) after leaving his house at 27/GD village with some locals, was found murdered on Tuesday.

The complainant, Sheeman Bibi, told Ravi police that her son Zahid Iqbal left his house with Omar Draz, Mazhar, Naveed and two unidentified men, who had visited him on two motorcycles on Monday.

She said when Zahid did not return till evening, his relatives started looking for him, but to no avail. Zahid’s mobile phone was found switched off, she added.

On Tuesday, the family was informed about a dead body lying near Pul Mirak rajbah (minor canal). On reaching the spot, the family identified the body as Zahid’s.

The body carried wound marks inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon, the complainant said.

Later, on the complaint of Sheeman Bibi, the Ravi police registered a case under sections 364, 302, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against the five suspects, two of them unidentified, and started investigation.

RAPE BID: A man allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl who was alone at home at 38/4L village, Okara.

As per the FIR, registered on complaint of the girl’s father, Sultan Ahmed, her parents had gone to fields to bring fodder for their cattle when the suspect ‘A’ entered their house and attempted to rape their seven-year-old daughter.

As the child raised hue and cry and some locals rushed to the house, the suspect fled the scene.

On the report of the father, Shahbore police have registered a case against the suspect under section 376 and 511 of the PPC. The police are looking for the suspect who went in hiding.
