KOHAT: The police on Sunday arrested three teachers of a seminary in Bahadar Colony area after a video went viral on social media showing the teachers having chained three minor students and torturing them.

District police officer Shafiullah Gandapur had directed the police to arrest the culprits.

The teachers, namely Kifayat Hussain, Hassan Kamal and Majid Khan, were booked under the Child Protection Act by the Riaz Shaheed police station.

Meanwhile, the police destroyed two mountain-side hideouts of proclaimed offenders and drug traffickers in Nasratkhel area on Sunday.

During a press briefing, district police officer Shafiullah Gandapur said the police, acting on intelligence, also conducted successful operations in Lachi and Cantonment areas and arrested 53 persons, including dug sellers, POs and their facilitators.

The operations started on Saturday evening and continued till Sunday afternoon, he said, adding the police also seized a Kalashnikov, 14 pistols, a repeater, thousands of cartridges, 13 kilogrammes of hashish and 500 grams of ice from them.

He said cases had been registered against the arrested people.
