TAXILA: The Hassanabdal police on Saturday arrested a policeman for creating a scene in the courtroom of duty judge at judicial complex.

Sources said that police raided a gambling den near Jehri Kass area and arrested three persons including a brother of a police constable.

Sources further added that when he was produced before a duty judge, the police constable started creating scenes at the courtroom claiming that his brother had cash worth Rs50,000 at the time of his arrest.

He started abusing the cops and threatening them with dire consequences.

He also tried to get hold of his brother by snatching handcuffs from the cop and also trashed him.

Later, on the application of police officials, a case was filed against the policeman under section 224, 225, 504, 506, 353 and 186 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and was arrested.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested under the Parents Protection Ordinance 2021 for beating and misbehaving with his elderly widow mother.

“My son was misbehaving with me and on Saturday he beat me black and blue,” the victim told the police who arrested the son. Under the ordinance, those found guilty may face jail term up to one year or fine, or both. The Taxila police SHO Mirza Qammar Javaid told newsmen that upon the complaint of the woman, police arrested the accused under the Protection of Parents Ordinance, 2021.
