KARACHI, Dec 22: The Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Dr Hamida Khuhro, on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to expedite the publication work of textbooks to be provided to school children free of cost.

The minister directed the Chief Programme Manager, Reform Support Unit of the Education Department, Iqbal Hussain Durrani, Director SEMIS Ilyas Soomro and Chairman Sindh Textbook Board Prof Aziz Mehranvi that free textbooks would also be distributed to students up to matric from 2006-07.

She said more ground work would be needed to ensure distribution of books among the children form classes one to 10. Officials will have to work for the collection of correct data so that free books could be delivered to every child, she added.—APP
