KARACHI: Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Aamir Khan has highlighted the need for developing the capital markets by expanding the investor base.

In a visit to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday, Mr Khan asked the brokerage industry to inv­est in expanding its IT infrastructure, a press release said.

Mr Khan and his team held a meeting with the PSX management and market participants, including the representatives of more than 100 trading right entitlement certificate holders.

The objective of the meeting was to review different facets of capital markets’ development, challenges, progress and outstanding issues. Mr Khan said consultative sessions with the market stakeholders are part of an ongoing process.
