PESHAWAR: Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Sardar Shahid Ahmad Khan Leghari said on Friday that the society had distributed relief goods worth Rs190 million in the flood-hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A statement issued here said that PRCS’s provincial chapter distributed relief items worth Rs15 million among 300 families of Nowshera.
The relief items included tents, blankets, tarpaulin sheets, hygiene kits, and water buckets.
Mr Leghari said that they were currently collecting data as well as trying to rescue people on priority and provide them shelter, food and medicines.
He said that PRCS had directly supported 40,000 families across Pakistan.
Mr Leghari said that the society had appealed to other Red Cross and Red Crescent societies around the world to help Pakistan in this difficult time.
“That is why the Turkish Red Crescent Society, Qatar, Kuwait Red Crescent, Norwegian Red Cross, and German Red Cross are present here,” he said.
Habib Malik Orakzai, PRCS’s provincial chapter chairman, said that efforts were being made to help the flood victims in the province.
