NEW DELHI, Dec 18: The Second India and Asia Regions Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference concluded here on Sunday with focus on carving out regional institutional mechanism to tackle catastrophic natural disasters like earthquake and Tsunami.

The conference was addressed by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Chairman of Pakistan’s Senate Mohammadmian Soomro.

Mr Soomro underscored the need to put in place institutional mechanism to handle natural calamities like earthquake and Tsunami.

He said a comprehensive strategy and resources were direly needed to meet the objectives of the conference. “We must accord proper attention to upbringing of children and inculcate moral values and ethics in them,” he said, adding they would thus discharge their national obligations in the future effectively.”—APP
