PESHAWAR, Jan 28: The Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao group) on Monday asked the government to review its decision about the withdrawal of subsidy on gas and electricity for domestic consumers.

Commenting on a statement of the governor of State Bank, PPP leader Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao deplored the proposed measures aimed at increasing the tariff of gas and electricity. He said the decision would further increase the living cost and thus affect the poor. The PPP leader regretted that the utilities were already beyond the reach of the common people due to price-hike.

He advised the government not to create hardship for poor people if it cannot provide relief to them

The government should provide relief to the already hard-pressed people and discourage the trend of increasing the prices of essential items, he said.
