ISLAMABAD, Dec 17: The Senate committee on rules of procedure and privileges met in the Parliament House on Saturday to consider the proposed amendments to the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 1988.

The committee, which met under the chairmanship of Senator Prof Mohammad Saeed Siddiqui, deliberated in detail on various amendments proposed in the Rules of Procedure of the Senate and unanimously approved a couple of amendments for incorporation in the previous rules.

The amendments were proposed by Senator Chaudhry Mohammad Anwar Bhinder, Mian Raza Rabbani, Prof Khursheed Ahmad and Farhatullah Babar.

The committee chairman stated that it had become necessary for rules to be updated to ensure smooth working of the Senate.

The meeting was attended by Senators Prof Mohammad Ibrahim, Ch Mohammad Anwar Bhinder, Farhatullah Babar, Sanaullah Baloch, Dr Khalid Ranjha, Dilawar Abbas and Khursheed Ahmad attended the meeting.—Our Reporter
