KARACHI, Dec 16: Three persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city on Friday. Police said that Saqib,11, was heading for school when he was hit by a speeding minibus near Qayoomabad.

He was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said that the errant vehicle fled the spot following the accident.

A conductor of a public transport vehicle died when a coach overturned in Hawkesbay area on Friday. Police said that Akbar Coach (PE-2716) overturned at the Hawkesbay road near PN Himaliya, killing its conductor identified as Ahmed. Police said that the victim died on the spot. Passengers travelling in the coach escaped with minor injuries.

In another accident a pedestrian died in a hit and run accident near the Karimabad intersection.

Police said that the accident occurred beneath the Liaquat Flyover. The injured, whose identity could not be ascertained immediately, was pronounced dead at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

SUICIDE: In Lyari, a class tenth student committed suicide after reportedly being scolded by her parents.

Edhi sources said that Shaheen, 16, ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her house in Gulistan Colony in the limits of Chakiwara police station.

CELLPHONES: At least 36 cellphones were reported either snatched or stolen from different parts of the city on Friday. According to police, 16 cellphones were snatched and 20 were stolen.
