LARKANA, Dec 14: Responding to a girl’s request for protection, judge of civil court-I Shahdadkot sent Ms Fauzia Mastoi to Darul Aman, Larkana, on Wednesday and ordered that her father, Ali Jan Mastoi, be handed over to police on seven-day remand. Ms Fauzia Mastoi in her statement had accused her father for sexually assaulting her for last six months.

She said that her mother and grandmother kept quiet over her ordeal for fear, despite the fact that she had been telling them about the incident. The preliminary medical report supported the girl’s statements.

The Shahdadkot police on Tuesday night registered a case against the accused under the Zina and Hudood Ordinance while initially the victim (Fauzia) was kept with the women workers of the Pirbhat Women Welfare Organisation, Shahdadkot.

On Wednesday she and her father were produced in the court of civil judge-I Shahdadkot. Apprehending life threat in Shahdadkot, she prayed the court for protection, which sent her to Darul Aman, Larkana.

The accused was remanded in police custody for seven days.

The sources told this scribe on Wednesday that story broke when the victim, before leaving for Karachi out of fear, was asked by somebody to sit at a nearby medical store at the main bus stand of Shahdadkot. Some one phoned journalists about the episode and they contacted her, the sources said.

It was learnt that police had also recorded the statements of her mother and other relatives.
