CHARSADDA: The authorities demolished 41 illegal structures including shops and houses during an anti-encroachment drive in Sherpao area of Tangi tehsil here on Thursday.

The operation against illegal structures was launched on the directives of court. Assistant Commissioner Dilnawaz supervised the operation. Heavy machinery was used to demolish about illegal 41 houses and shops along the three-kilometre road leading to Aslam Kallay.

Police were present on the occasion in a large number to avert any untoward incident. According to TMA and district administration officials several notices were served on the owners of the illegal structures to remove the encroachments voluntarily.

They said that notices were issued to other owners of several illegal shops to remove the structures on their own. They said action against them would be taken if they didn’t comply with the orders.

The officials also appreciated the local people, who helped the administration in removing the encroachments.
