QUETTA, Dec 12: Armed men fired rockets on a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpost in Dera Bugti area on Monday night, officials said. The FC checkpost came under rocket attack in Killi Bakhsha of the Dera Bugti district at around 8:30pm.

“At least eight rockets landed and exploded in the area after brief intervals,” official sources confirmed. The Frontier Corps troops deployed at the post retaliated and fired mortar shells and rockets at the positions of the attackers.

The heavy exchange of fire continued for half an hour.

“No casualty or damage has been reported in the exchange of rocket fire,” sources said, adding that when the Frontier Corps troops retaliated the attackers disappeared from the scene.

The sources said that after the rocket attack at the checkpost more Frontier Corps personnel were deployed in the area to launch a search operation. Nobody was arrested till the filing of this report.
