LAHORE, Dec 12: Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq on Monday became only the second batsmen to complete 11,000 one-day runs, achieving the feat against England in the second One-day International here.

Inzamam, who completed 8,000 Test runs last week, reached the milestone when he reached 16 during his unbeaten knock of 31.

India’s Sachin Tendulkar is the only batsman to have scored more than 11,000 runs in international cricket. Tendulkar, who scored a world record of 35 Test hundreds on Saturday, has 13,909 runs in a world record of 358 one-dayers.

Tendulkar also holds the record of most one-day hundreds with 38.

The 35-year-old Pakistan captain made his one-day debut against the West Indies here in 1991 but hit the headlines with his brilliant 60 not out in the semifinal of the 1992 World Cup held in Australia.

Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya (10, 207) and India’s Saurav Ganguly (10,123) are the only other two batsmen to have scored more than 10,000 runs in one-day cricket since its inception in 1972.—AFP
