RAWALPINDI: The Civil Aviation Authority has made the wearing of face masks mandatory on all domestic flights in response to a surge in Covid-19 infection cases.

A CAA spokesman said face masks have been made mandatory again on flights within the country with immediate effect as directed by the competent forum. The remaining Covid-19 guidelines applicable to domestic air travel within Pakistan would remain unchanged, he added.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan reported 435 cases on Saturday.

As Covid-19 cases had started declining, people assuming that the virus had been eradicated stopped following the SOPs, said a health expert. Even at airports, passengers as well as the management officials had stopped wearing face masks and ignoring other SOPs.
