ISLAMABAD: Inflation measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) increased by 1.01 per cent in the week ended on June 23 from the previous mainly due to increase in prices of essential food items, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data released on Friday.

The week-on-week inflation is lower than the previous one which surged by 3.38pc on account of highest-ever increase in petroleum products prices.

During the week under review, the year-on-year increase in SPI was 28.05pc. The PBS data shows that the prices of 32 essential food items increased during the week under review compared to the previous week.
