NAROWAL: PML-N leader and former federal minister Daniyal Aziz was injured in a road accident when his car rammed into a truck near Bhajna bus stop on the Shakargarh-Narowal Road on Thursday. The truck driver died on the spot.

Aziz was coming to Narowal from his hometown of Shakargarh in his SUV when it collided with a loaded truck coming from the opposite direction. He was driving his own vehicle at the time of the accident.

The Rescue 1122 reached the spot and found Daniyal Aziz as well as the drivers of the truck, Muhammad Naveed and Muhammad Boota, seriously injured. Naveed died of his injuries on the spot. The rescuers provided first aid to Aziz and immediately shifted him to the District Headquarters Hospital Narowal. They shifted the injured Boota and the body of Naveed to the tehsil headquarters hospital (THQ). The accident was so severe that Aziz’s car was completely destroyed.

Dr Khalid Javed, the chief executive officer of the District Health Authority, Narowal, said Daniyal Aziz’s left arm was broken and he suffered a head injury. The PML-N leader would be referred to Lahore due to the head injury, he added.

Aitzaz Bashir Narowal, the district police spokesman, said District Police Officer Asad Sarfraz Khan had ordered an inquiry into the accident.

Daniyal Aziz is the husband of MNA Mehnaz Akbar Aziz.
