MARDAN: Pakistan Peoples Party central leader and former federal minister Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti has criticised the government for increasing the prices of petroleum products and electricity.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Hoti said that the masses had already been severely hit by the price hike they faced due to the flawed policies of the previous Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government.
He claimed that the masses had taken a sigh of relief with the ouster of the PTI government and it was hoped that the incumbent rulers would streamline its affairs with the IMF so as to control inflation and provide relief to the people in the country.
Mr Hoti said that the incumbent government while making a record increase in the prices of petroleum products and electricity had brought a storm of price hike in the country.
The PPP leader threatened that he along with the people of Mardan would be on the streets against the present government if it also followed in the footsteps of the previous government.
He asked the government to take urgent steps to control inflation.
MAN KILLS WIFE: A man allegedly killed his wife over a domestic dispute in Shanagharu village of Shergar.
Officials of Shergar police station said on Saturday that one Tawakul Khan shot dead his wife, 45, during exchange of harsh words over some domestic issue.
The police said that they had registered an FIR against the suspect on the complaint of his son Zahir Gul, 14.
However, the officials stated that their preliminary investigations revealed that the accused first killed his wife and then went to his brother’s home in the limits of Kopar police station in Malakand and also shot him dead.
They said that two separate FIRs had been registered against the alleged killer.
