Tent fire kills 6 of a family

PESHAWAR, Dec 7: Six members of a quake-hit family were burnt to death and two others suffered injuries when a fire erupted in a tent in Chappar Plan village, some 60km from Mansehra, on Tuesday night. “The tent, set up in the compound of a house, caught fire between 10pm and 11pm on Tuesday night,” Mansehra District Coordination Officer Shakil Qadir told Dawn.

The injured were being treated in the Abbottabad DHQ hospital, he said.

“We have installed fire-extinguishers in all tents. But the incident took place inside the house and therefore, we couldn’t respond quickly to save the people,” he said.
