LAHORE: The Punjab University (PU) organised a discussion on Monday on the completion of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Tajikista Ambassador of Tajikistan Ismatullah Nasiruddin was the chief guest.

He said that Tajikistan and Pakistan enjoyed warm bilateral relations for decades.

He said that cooperation with Pakistan in the field of education, research and business was increasing.

He urged businessmen, academics and people to visit Tajikistan and explore opportunities themselves, which could contribute to strengthening regional cooperation.

He said that in the future these relations would yield positive results which would be beneficial for both the countries.

They said that trade relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan were also important, but they needed to be further enhanced.

Later, the ambassador and others cut the cake to celebrate 30 years of bilateral relations.

UHE: The University of Home Economics (UHE’s) steering committee of the office of research, innovation and commercialization (ORIC) met on Monday and discussed ways to promote research work on the campus.

UHE Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen chaired the meeting and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh was also present.

Mr Sheikh offered funds for the construction of a business incubation centre, while ORIC steering committee member Almas Haider extended his support to provide free-of-cost computer software and licenses for the computer lab of the UHE.

The ORIC provides opportunities for UHE faculty and scholars to promote their research work.

Ms Kanwal said that the knowledge and technology would be available and the faculty members and scholars could utilize the ORIC and come up with the best solutions to link their research projects with industry.

She said the ORIC would deal with all academic activities pertaining to research, development, innovation, collaborations, startups, training workshops, and symposia.

She also launched the official logo of the ORIC.
