LARKANA, Dec 7: Three people suspected to have dengue fever have been admitted to the Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana. Prof Wazir Mohammad Shaikh, head of the department of medicine, told Dawn on Wednesday night that signs and symptoms of the patients suggested that they were suffering from dengue fever.

He said that certain tests of the patients would lead towards exact diagnosis of the illness.

A five-year-old boy, Irfan Ali, son of Fateh Mohammed Abro, from the Ali Mohammed Vrikh village, was admitted to the children’s ward.

Prof N. A. Channa, the head of the department of paediatrics at the CMC hospital said it was not correct to say that the boy was suffering from the dengue virus.

He said that he had suggested certain tests of the boy as he had a history of running fever with bleeding from the rectum and the mouth.

A woman, Kariman, wife of Noor Mohammed from Khanpur (Jacobabad) was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of the virus.

She was kept in the isolation ward of the hospital.

Another person, Abdul Hadi, son of Abdul Razzak Buriro, from the Mirpur Buriro village of the Qambar-Shahdadko district with symptoms of high grade fever, blood vomiting from the mouth and per abdomen was admitted in VIP-III teaching block of the hospital.

He came to the casualty department of the hospital in the afternoon and was later shifted to the isolation ward on suspicion of the virus.
